It's been a year now with radiation and chemotherapy. Hubby's treatment are slowly shrinking the tumor but also stopping new tumors from coming on. It's been a slow process but it is still nerve racking when get go to the infusion center. You just never know what the blood work will say week to week. Sometimes the blood platelet counts are too low and other times they are right on target. We just keep praying for positive results.

Merry Christmas!
Christmas eve is winding down. The fancy family dinner is over and I get to relax until it is time for Santa's visit with the toys. I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday.

Ornaments for Fundraiser
Since my sister is one of the faculty advisers for the
Class of 2022, they are required to make gifts for the holiday craft fair at
school. I helped by donating a dozen of
these felt ornaments and few of my other homemade ornaments to sell.
Reindeer wreath
This was my gift to my sister for Christmas 2018. She mentioned three years ago that she wanted
this wreath, but I was not sure if I wanted to take on making this. Well, this year I made two of them for
her. The red nose is an ornament that
came from our original family Christmas tree about 50 years ago. My parents stopped putting up a tree, so I
made sure to save these ornaments. I
have one and now my sister owns the last two as part of her wreaths. The
original idea came from this Pinterest posting: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/785596728724999873/ I looked around for other ideas and created
my design that was similar.
2018 Gift holder
This year for Christmas I decided to make this gift
basket holder that I found on Pinterest. The link to the pattern
is http://www.free-tutorial.net/2017/01/gift-basket-tutorial.html. I used items from the dollar store and candy
to fill the baskets. Then each child got
a gift card and some cash. I also made
some extra for the teachers. I tied it
all up with green plastic wrap. The gift
tag is the handmade red long john PJs with the butt pocket. I had so many of them still from 10 years ago
when Gannett had their employee craft fair.
I did not sell any at the time so I have been trying to give them away
and finally this year I was able to give away the last PJ ornament.
Wedding Gift
A team mate got married in November, so I had the team
pitch in and I made a gift card bouquet for her.
Just some more cards...
Here are some birthday cards I made in the Fall 2018. The double slider cards were hard. Then I finally figured out I needed to make
sure the plastic used inside was not too thin and the tape on the track needs
to be 1/8 inch or it will stick to the slider panels. Once I got past that they were easy to make.
My Birthday...
It is my milestone birthday. I picked to go to Universal Studios and experience Harry Potter world. I know my little family is not big into wizarding world like me, so I made my sister and cousins go as a girl’s trip. It was super fun! I didn’t even wake anyone up with my snoring.
Angel Charms
I was looking for something to add to the memory boxes I
made for the hospitals. I was looking
for something that I can use with my current materials and tools. I found this bead
angel charm. The
beads I had and the pliers my husband had in the garage so all I needed was the
stem to hold all the beads.
Wrap and Gown
Heavenly Angels In Need held a 30 day challenge to have
members make at least one item a day. As you can see I only made it to 25
items.
Charity Group: Halo Helper
I saw their posting on Facebook one day and saw that this
was a group I could help out. The Halo Keepers is
out of Florida. They make soft yarn wigs
for any child battling cancer. I would make the beanie hat that is the base of
the wig and mail it to the headquarters in Florida. They would have people there who would add
the hair and embellishments to finish off the wig.
Charity Group: Bridget Cradle
When I was surfing the internet for new patterns and ideas
to make for the “babies” in the hospitals.
Daniel calls them the “babies that mommy helps”. I ran across this charity group called Bridget’s Cradle. They provide handmade knitted and crocheted cradles
to hospitals to offer to families whose babies were born into Heaven in
the second trimester of pregnancy. Because babies are so small, traditional
blankets do not meet their needs. I started making cradles on behalf of
Alexander Paul Mayo who was born into Heaven in the 2nd trimester of
pregnancy.
Halloween 2017
Here’s another pop-up card I made for Alicia. All the
papers came from searching the internet for images.
Homemade Christmas Cards
Yes, I am trying my hand at homemade Christmas cards this
year. I have the supplies and I also
purchased some more but it is so fun to make.
The hard part is deciding how to decorate the fronts.
Birthday Cards
Now I’m starting to get brave with my card making. I also ordered some stamps and dies from
Stampin Up and also online. The Lawn
Fawn brand carries some cute stamps.
Stephanie Barnard’s collection with Sizzix make it so easy to die cut
specialty cards: step up and flip it.
